ARTIST PROFILE

About Ann Adachi

Ann Adachi is a ball-jointed doll artist based in Kochi, Japan.

She began making dolls in 2002 and studied under Kyo Otake. Each doll is sculpted individually from clay, then painted and finished by hand, including its eyes and hair.

Her work gives form to emotions and stories that live within quiet expressions and gestures. A doll may appear different depending on the viewer's memories and state of mind—an essential quality of Ann Adachi's art.

Alongside her studio practice, she participates in curated and group exhibitions, teaches creative doll making in Kochi City, and leads workshops.
